A Plan to Promote, Protect & Preserve

Thank You!

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and volunteers who supported our campaign for Napa County Supervisor, District 4. I especially want to thank the nearly 100 volunteers who walked and knocked on doors in every precinct, rain or shine, to gather signatures, post yard signs, give away ‘Shepp for Supervisor’ shopping bags, host ‘meet and greets’. I also want to thank each organization and individual who endorsed and contributed financially to our campaign…some giving repeatedly.

Ours was a grassroots campaign, powered by you. My opponent had all the money and the machine behind him. Considering he was an appointed incumbent and Chair of the Supervisors, we did exceptionally well, garnering over 30% of the votes cast.

Highlights of the campaign included the fact that we gathered the most number of certified petition signatures…over 700!

I was the only candidate who included Berryessa in my platform and now the Board of Supervisors are considering doing what I had advocated – taking back control of the Lake concessions and managing the area.

My Native American heritage nurtured my perspective on environmentalism. The environment includes all of our surroundings, all conditions, all circumstances and all influences affecting our surroundings: the natural environment, our hillsides, water, air, roads, transportation, how we interact, how we educate our children, how we do business, how our government serves us.
I pushed for protection of our hillsides and water, smart public transportation, affordable proximity housing and an immediate increase of the minimum wage to $15, NOW.

Our campaign has made an impact. However, the issues we fought for and the projects we fought against will be coming before the Board of Supervisors in the near future. I invite you to stay active, stay involved. Join Napa Vision 2050, the Sierra Club, Protect Rural Napa, Defenders of the East Napa Watersheds and the many other environmental organizations fighting for a sustainable, quality of life for residents and businesses in Napa County.

Again, thank you. Onward!

I am Diane Shepp and I am running for Napa County Supervisor, District 4.

We moved here over 30 years ago for the quality of life of a rural community… a good place to raise a family. It was a place of natural beauty, spectacular dark night skies, uncluttered agriculture and forested hillsides.

In the past decade we have witnessed a dramatic change in the Napa Valley. I have been listening to what neighborhood groups and local citizens are saying.

  • The trucking of Napa City water to support hillside vineyards while city residents are asked to let their lawns go brown is not an equitable solution.
  • Near grid-lock traffic worsens everyday (not good for residents, local businesses, the wine industry or visitors).
  • Can locals easily drive to and from their jobs? to the grocery store? to the hospital?
  • Can the working middle class, the backbone of our county afford to live here?

I believe it is the job of government to protect the health, welfare and safety of its citizens. As your County Supervisor I will give you a voice for your concerns.

  • I believe in keeping it local...keeping jobs in Napa. I will promote a living wage, affordable-proximity housing for local workers [teachers, hospitality and wine industry employees among others], so they may call Napa their home too.
  • I will work to protect our agricultural-based economy, our watersheds, open space and sustainable resources.
  • I will promote needed investment in infrastructure, road repair, waste water systems, water quality, and a livable wage.
  • Together we will preserve a more vibrant, economically sustainable community and quality of life in Napa County for current residents and future generations alike.

In the "Videos & News" section I will include position papers and educational materials in the coming weeks and months that will flesh out my Plan. Please look for them.

As a professional, I have lead our community in the nonprofit, social welfare and educational sectors. I served on the Grand Jury. I get the job done.

My campaign is a grassroots campaign. We will succeed with your participation, input and contributions. I look forward to hearing your concerns. Your endorsement and a contribution of any amount will help share our message.

Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Remember to vote! If you are not yet registered to vote go to: http://registertovote.ca.gov/

Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,
